- As that of in the conventional motor. there is stator and rotor in the AC servo motor.
- The stator winding is wound for two winding, both windings are 90 degrees with each other.
- The constant AC supply is given to main winding or reference winding.
- The constant frequency variable voltage is given to the stator second winding or control winding.
- The variable voltage is controlled through electronic controller.
- The rotor of AC servo motor is designed for high resistance therefore the X / R ratio is very low.
- The torque speed characteristic of AC servo motor is linear due to low X / R ratio.
- The convention induction motor is applicable as servo motor but motor operation becomes unstable due to positive slop.

- The diameter of rotor is kept small in order to keep low inertia.
- The torque – speed characteristic of servo motor depends upon angle between two stator windings.
- The AC servo motor generally operates from 50 Hz to 400 Hz frequencies.
