### Rectifier Efficiency & Power Efficiency

In this theory, the concept of rectifier efficiency and power efficiency in the rectifier is given.

## Rectifier efficiency

### = ( Output DC Power / Input AC Power ) × 100%

= ( 24 / 60 ) × 100%

= 40%

### ## Power efficiency

• The input of the single half wave rectifier is 60 W , it means that 30 W for positive half cycle and remaining 30 W for negative half cycle.
• As the single phase half wave rectifier conducts only for half cycle therefore only 30 W for positive half cycle is converted into 24 W and remaining 6 watts as loss.

Power efficiency

= ( Output DC Power / Half of Input AC Power ) × 100%

= ( 24 / 30 ) × 100%

=  80%

Therefore the rectifier efficiency is 40% whereas the power efficiency is 80%.
