Biased positive clipper

  • If there is only small portion of the positive half cycle clip and negative half cycle will apply across the load, it is called as biased positive clipper.

Biased negative clipper

  • If there is only small portion of the negative half cycle clip and positive half cycle will apply across the load, it is called as biased negative clipper.

Combination clipper

  • It is combination of biased positive and biased negative clipper.

What is operating principle of the clamper circuit?

Principle of clamper circuit

  • The clamper circuit operates on the principle that the charging time of the capacitor is very small as compared to discharging time.

Function of Clamper circuit

  • The function of the clamper circuit is to raise the positive or negative peak value at a desirable level. 
  • It does not change peak to peak value of the signal. It only changes the DC level of the signal.

Whether the original signal change at the output of the clamper circuit?

  • No, the original signal does not change at the output of the clamper circuit.

What is meaning of the Positive clamper and Negative clamper?

Positive clamper

  • The function of the positive clamper is to raise the input signal to upward direction such that negative peaks fall to zero.

Negative clamper

  • The function of the negative clamper is to raise the input signal to downward direction such that positive peaks fall to zero.
