Type B Chopper

It is step down chopper, it means that the output DC voltage is less than the input DC voltage.

It is step up chopper, it means that the output DC voltage is greater than the input DC voltage.

It is first quadrant chopper, it means that the output voltage as well as output current is positive.

It is second quadrant chopper, it means that the output voltage is positive but output current is negative.

It is called as forward motoring drive.

It is called as reverse generator braking.

The power flows from supply side to load side.

The power flows from load side to supply side.
