Audio amplifiers
- It amplifies wide band of frequencies.
- Resistive load is used in the collector circuit of the transistor.
- The resistive load does not depend upon the signal frequency.
Tuned amplifiers
- It amplifies narrow or selective band of frequencies.
- Parallel tuned circuit is used in series with collector circuit of the transistor.
- The impedance of the parallel tuned circuit depends upon the signal frequency.
- The impedance of the parallel tuned circuit is very high at resonant frequency whereas its value goes on decreasing at off resonance frequencies.
- The tuned amplifiers are used to select specific frequency in the radio receiver.
